Is it normal to be 21 and have separation anxiety?

I have always had separation anxiety as a child, so never stayed at friends houses and always stayed awake until my parents were home if they had gone out. I thought I’d grow out of it, but it just seems that things have moved onto my partner. When he goes out, I can’t sleep until I know he’s back. If I’m not with him, I’m constantly tracking to make sure he hasn’t had a car crash or broken down. It’s embarrassing. It’s so bad that I’m convinced I cannot go through drive-thru’s because of one time where the car wouldn’t drive properly and sounded like it was going to breakdown. I can’t explain it very well but the thought of being 21 and experiencing this, makes me feel like I’m still a child.

Hiya! My separation anxiety was never addressed and I can’t seem to pinpoint it to any direct trauma or experience. I think I just didn’t like being apart from them xx

Hi, i can understand your feelings it had happened to me mostly it comes from traumas, but reasons may vary from individual to individual.
