I decided this morning to start taking Hydroxyzine more than just at bedtime as a way to turn my thoughts off, but now I just feel like a zombie. I'm not having the catastrophic thoughts right now, but I can barely keep my head up. I know that I need to do this in order to get better, but I'm embarrassed that I have to rely on pharmaceuticals just to get some relief. I hope things get better soon.

what else are you doing to aid your depression recovery?
I’m seeing my therapist, and taking my medications as prescribed. Right now unfortunately I think that’s all that I can do. Taking it day by day.
Drugs.com list Hydroxyzine as an antihistamine but can also be used for Anxiety. Is that why it was prescribed to you?
It slows down the central nervous system which would explain the "brain fog" you are experiencing.
Are you on any other meds?
Having you tried making improvements to your diet and including some exercise in your day?
It was prescribed for anxiety, yes. I did start taking a multivitamin again, but haven’t done much to my diet & I have a couple injuries preventing me from doing anything more than walking unfortunately. I am also on fluoxetine, just waiting on that to start working so I can come off the hydroxyzine a little bit.
The benefits of some multivits and supplements works for some and not others. I have found that spirulina and wheatgrass helps me. Maybe you can consider this? It gives me the energy to exercise a bit and cook healthy meals with a higher fruit and veg ratio to protein and carbs. This has helped with max nutrient absorption by improvement of the digestive system.
Walking is great especially out in nature where the fresh air can really lighten the mood.
I hope this helps some? Feel free to pm me if you need to chat or advice on how to change behaviors.
good luck!
Hoping you are feeling a little better today!
