I have been having GERD symptoms for years now that i thought i was managing pretty well with diet. Sometimes when i have alcohol i have severe stomach pain that soes away after a dose of Pepto. Im so scared that i waited to long and the acid has done something awful to my stomach/esophagus. I made the mistake of going online and have convinced myself that i have something fatal. I could REALLY use so supportive words or stories of other people’s experiences. I’ve been up crying all night.

Endoscopy tomorrow and TERRIFIED
I can only offer sympathy. I have almost lived on Gaviscon for years. I have little willpower at curtailing triggering foods and drinks. I have a wheze somtimes with the reflux but am scared to get it checked out.
Hopefully your results will be ok. Will be thinking of you.
I will pray for your healing too.
I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling. I know its easier said than done but try to do self care or things you enjoy to occupy your brain from worrying. I had an endoscopy and asked the doc to not completely sedate me. I wanted to be some what alert so he just lowered the amount. He sprayed my mouth with a solution and in went the thin tube. I didnt really feel anything. I've also had an endoscopy through my nose several years earlier with nothing given to me.
You can always ask the doc to completely knock you out, so that you could be more relaxed. Hopefully the process will be easy peasy lemon squeezy and your results wont reveal anything serious. Sending positive vibes your way
Thank you so much for taking the time to write me back. I'm so alone and scared. Just the reassurance from strangers feels comforting at this moment. I really appreciate the positive vibes being sent. Im going to do my best to keep my my mind busy till tomorrow....make sure to send EXTRA positive thoughts tomorrow at 3!
My health anxiety is THROUGH THE ROOF ...has been EVERY day of my life the last 15 years. Its complete torture for people like us. No one can really understand unless you've lived a day in this head. Im 38 with 3 small children and worry EVERY second something tragic will happen and they will be left without a mom. It's the most AWFUL feeling in the world. Thank you so much for your response.
Hi Ashleigh,You’re doing the best thing you can to get the endoscopy, so please try to focus on how you are taking this important step for yourself.
Don’t borrow trouble, as my grandma used to say. You might have a pretty good result after all! Good luck and keep on deep breathing and thinking positive thoughts!
Hello AshleighI emphasize with you. I hope that you feel better when the time comes.
Good for you. You are doing what you need to do in order to feel better.
Sometimes it is not easy and the road is scary but you can do it. You are in good hands and the doctors will help you.
I know that you are scared. I send you a big hug. I will pray for you.
I can understand your anxiety for this procedure. Once years ago the docter said I probably would need to get one, but I was like nooooo, noooo, noo wayyy. I chose the slow more insecure ride, took medicines for years. Even without the endoscopy I would have to in the end though. But now it was not exactly sure what was going on inside. Eventually my stomach got better, but the point is: very strong and brave of you to go do this even when you're scared. It's the better route. So good luck to you tomorrow, you'll survive this. After it you'll probably be happy, because you can be (more) sure about what is going on inside and how to help it get better.
I have a smoothie made of cucumber and melon which is alkaline and counters acidity
Good Luck tomorrow Ashleigh. Will be holding you in my thoughts and prayers.I've had the procedure done a couple times and it went well that I had a complete
meal after that. I wish you the same. xx
I know where you're coming from, I was diagnosed with chronic Gastritis and had the same symptoms. The good news is, it can be managed, but sometimes the course of treatment needs to change. I've been off regular medications for a while now, but I know there will come a day at some point where I'll need to take something again to feel like I can function.
Don't worry so much! Stomach problems are scary if you don't know what the cause is, but there's so many different very minor things that it could be that it's not even worth your time to worry about the worst case-scenario!
Hello Ashleigh,Did you go to your doctor's appointment?
How did you do?
Are you ok?
I hope you feel less anxious.
