How do you minimize “passive self-harm”?

I hadn’t heard the term until I stumbled upon this post: pin.it/2yrDoCo. Have you heard of it before?

I realized, there are a lot of things I do that qualifies as ways I self-destruct or hurt myself that are more passive in nature.

It’s mostly not doing things that would be good for me or my body. I hadn’t read or heard anyone else doing the “not going to the bathroom” thing other than Rue in Euphoria (2019) tv show. I relate.

Anyways, what is 1 tool or strategy you use make it easier on yourself to do basic self-care? With all the anxiety and depression, I am barely doing the bare minimum and would love some reminders!!!

Thank you in advance!!!!!!!!!

I do something fun while taking care of myself I add a twist to what I am doing

Try to form small good habits and keep adding more . Like, I had to make myself brush and floss my teeth every night before bed for weeks but eventually I started doing it without thinking about it. Habit 1! Then I added another self care habit to that one. Keep adding to the chain.

That is a very good answer. Form very small good habits and remember that these add up to big ones in the end.I am trying to do that now with my back exercises but know that if I make myself they will become a good habit and I won't think twice before doing them.

Another one is something I just do without thinking about it. This is when I say something negative about myself ie I am lazy for not getting up sooner, I always follow it with well done for getting up at all feeling so lousy. I didn't even realise I was doing it until one day it suddenly dawned on me.
