Good morning: Hope you are well.

Not everything changes but we can make the change in order to survive.

Yes I was born literally with a survivor’s gene. I’m Jewish and my father, aunt and grandparents were Holocaust survivors. I think about them when I’m going thru a tough and challenging time and say to myself that if they could go tjru the depths of hell and survive then I can get this as well. However they had deep scars from this hellacious experience. But when they finally arrived in America in the spring of 1947, they started to rebuild their lives.

Unfortunately, after the Holocaust, there have been people such as the Cambodian survivors from the Pol Pot massacre, Salvadorans who survived the civil wars of the 1970’s and on an everyday basis in the USA who must go thru racism, sexual discrimination those of us who have been impacted by mental health issues, etc. Tolerance is definitely needed in our world. That is really inspirational. When you put things into perspective, some of our issues are minimal in comparison. You also mention survivors of regimes and conflict in other countries.Yet even those of us with mental health issues who even still can be discriminated against and even mocked are victims of man's inhumanity to man.

I think groups like HU build confidence in us . it's good to know there are others struggling with similar issues and we pick up coping strategies from each other.

U R so right. HU does build confidence in us. We can learn from each other and pick up coping strategies from each other. Our issues R important. Each of us carries our own challenges and there should not be comparisons made. What I mean by that is that we all have our everyday issues that we need to deal with. That is why I am so happy that I found this site. The support And good advice that I have received from this group have really helped me thru the pandemic. I’m here 4 U.

Hugs 🤗 M
