After almost 4 months of a rather severe episode of depression and OCD, I was starting to feel normal again. I was so hopeful that it was coming to an end. Happiness seemed within reach.
But now I've suffered a setback and feel crummy again. I'm still better than I was 4 months ago, but I feel like I've moved backwards to where I was 3 or 4 weeks ago.
Is this normal?
Part of the problem is any sign of depression causes me to get discouraged and then the mood cascades from there.

Yes possibly, you may need to take some medications to give yourself a boost. You have been on the medication for some time now so it may be you need to discuss your concerns with your Doctor.
Generally Hobbies and Diversions can help, if you are dwelling on your concerns you may need to consider diverting your thoughts
I think this is common, unfortunately. It doesn't mean you can't get back on track. I know I go through times where I think things are getting better, but then something happens and I am back where I was. You have to remind yourself that if you got to a place where you were feeling better, it is likely you will get back there. You may need to have your meds checked, if taking any. Think about what got you to that happier place and hopefully, you will be there before you know it.
Thanks, everyone. I know that "recovery isn't linear" and that the general trendline is that I am improving. It's just frustrating when you feel like you have almost reached the finish line and then you suffer a setback.
I'm hopeful that I will be back to my old self by the holidays.
It happens, try to remember how far you have come, appreciate your improvements and you will be fine. Setbacks are part of life, but at the end ik you will come back strong and you will tackle all situations. Hopefully everything will be fine soon.
