Hello and welcome to this wonderful site and amazing people who are always ready to help and understand,I know how you feel as a senior myself and going through the worst depression of my life this site has been my place to turn too for support and friendship.🤗💐

Yes, keep coming here and talk to others. Writing down our feelings, and having members who have the same issues reply, is very helpful.

I had anxiety for years and what has helped me was reading books and watching youtube videos by Dr. Claire Weekes and the DARE Anxiety program. They really helped me understand what anxiety really is and how to learn to accept the anxious thoughts and feelings to recover. Another thing that helped was realizing that my primary anxiety issue was social anxiety from childhood bullying and growing up in a emotional repressive home and I also had c-ptsd because of. I found a trauma therapist who uses emdr therapy that really helped. Understanding why you have anxiety disorder can help in getting the right kind of therapy for it. I also had my hormones, thyroid and adrenal glands checked out and optimized sot they are functioning well. If not, they can cause or contribute to anxiety/depression. I also found the right antidepressant for me which has also helped. Another valuable thing was learning and practicing mindfulness to be able to detach from our anxious thoughts and feeling. Also learning to have better self-esteem and self-compassion has been very helpful. It takes time and commitment and for me a combination of things. As one of my therapists said, "it's never to late to have a happy childhood", best to you.

You have offered up some very good advice, designguy. I especially like what your therapist had to say, and I quote you.....

Thank you, I hope it's helpful. My other favorite quote, being a dog lover is: "D.O.G.is the pathway to G.O.D."
