I’m feeling very down. Animals have always brought me happiness even on my darkest days. My cat has been very needy lately, crying etc but ate and drank ok. Well today he wouldn’t eat or drink so I knew something wasn’t right. I had to take him to an emergency vet and they had to take blood and urine sample and also give nausea meds and get an injection of water as he was dehydrated.
I’m just sick about this, the bill today was almost $500 and 2 things will come from this A) he has hyperthyroidism, uti etc. , things that would make him able to live but would be costly or B) his kidneys are totally shot and he has anemia, which would result in him having to be put down. He also has some rotten teeth that would need to be pulled as he has abscesses and infection. This hurts my heart so much. I suffer from very bad asthma and last week was diagnosed with non alcoholic liver disease. I can’t go anywhere as these are bad underlying conditions if I would get Covid (I’m double vaccinated but our cases are so high here and lots of breakthrough cases) the only thing I have on my side is that I’m not elderly. I can’t stop crying and worrying.

I feel for you. I had to put a pet down I once because he needed a liver transplant. Broke my heart ❤ for a long time. He was my best but.I have another dog who is getting up in age a but and having health issues. I try to keep her healthy with good food and exercise and play time. My baby girl.💖
I think that veterinarians get away with robbery with the costs of everything. So sorry you have to face this. The company of our pets are like nothing else. Especially when we struggle with illnesses. Please know you are with those who understand.
Sorry you have to go through this right now. I have been through the end of life with my cats and it is never easy. One thing that really did help with my last cat is having a vet come to my home at end of life. She had her favorite blanket and didn't have to leave her space. If the vet is vaccinated and masked you would probably be fine or go outside. I don't remember how much more but I remember thinking it wasn't that much more.
