Hi All,

I’ve lived with low level depression/anxiety for most of my adult life. Over the last few years this has got progressively more severe, to the point where I was signed off work for six months early last year. I returned to work with no problems, but a couple of weeks ago the black dog returned, and I am now once more unable to work. I am currently taking SSRIs but have been referred to local Mental Health Services. The nurse did my initial assessment, and I think psychosis may be added to my ever growing list of symptoms.

My question is, at what point should I notify the DVLA. I understand that any mention of psychosis may mean that my licence will be suspended. I am a vocational bus/coach driver, and the medical standards for this are higher than for a car licence.

I actually find driving at work therapeutic as I am in a familiar environment, and the concentration and focus required help to distract me from my feelings.

Thanks

Gary

Hi Gary what symptoms did you / do you experience which prompted the doctor to diagnose you as psychotic?

I am a bit confused by you saying you were unable to work due to your anxiety / depression yet you also say that you find your driving work therapeutic ?

I am guessing that you get depressed but once you get to work you feel better?
