hi and welcome aboard it`s really your decision if you feel you`ve tried everything else.
They only made me feel worse. I know a lot of people who got a lot worse on them.
So do I, you are not alone. I have never tried an anti-depressant.
I personally don't think so. Anti-depressants aren't going to help you unless you address your anxiety directly. It's only as necessary as a trained professional deems it and even then they may be off the mark for entirely different reasons unrelated to you or your situation.
Hi Shopgirl1981, Welcome to this great support forum.
Know that we are not doctors and can only relate our own experience
with medication.
The idea of this forum is to give you some clarity in what worked for some
of us and what didn't. In the end, it's your decision as to what your doctor wants
to try. Not everyone responds the same to medications. It's about a trial and error
situation in finding the right medication and dosage for you alone.
Most doctors are going towards using SSRIs (antidepressants) for anxiety as well as depression. I once made the mistake years ago in being afraid to try the meds prescribed
for me. I'd have them filled and then they would sit on the pantry shelf.
I finally realized that I wasn't getting anywhere by having my fear take over my rational decision.
I hope you talk with your doctor or therapist regarding you trying antidepressants for your
anxiety. It can break that cycle of fear begets fear and along with finding some methods/tools that will help calm you down. Unless we take that first step in trying to
get help, we get no where. I'm glad you are here with us. xx
