Where have we lost much of our humanity?

I blame the kind of social media that is click bait for people who are trying to feel like they need to belong...and end up often being bullied and shunned in a virtual world that isn't real. People do and say things to others they never would in the real world...that can be a good thing for a site like this so that people feel anonymous and therefore safe, but not in the 'Tribal Mentality' of mob cruelty most sites incite because it attracts members to the drama like watching a gladiator match.

The detachment to reality, the lack of empathy, and the false sense of self importance selfies and twitter junkies that now exists as the 'New Normal’, I feel is a socially accepted sickness that has poisoned the minds of those who have grown up in this fantasy world of living their lives on cell phones. Data is the new currency, so we basically have become a source of income for business models. Target marketed, mindless drones on our cell phones.

I have my laptop, I limit my time, and my cell phone sits and collects dust. I've always been rooted in the basics, and there I will stay...I am a geek...but have seen how so many have sold their soul by letting Alexis, and Cortana into their lives, their web cams and web microphones and GPS location are on all the time. The 'Star' service in their cars, the computers recording every braking action, miles, speed, locations traveled to...all recorded and up in the 'Cloud' of virtual data to be sold or used to monitor the users. And now, companies are putting 'Chips' in employees, and body cams on them...

George Orwell had it right...

Right on fauxartist I hate this plastic world we live in, wish we could go back 50 years, people were nice, polite, helpful (and of course some rude). I only just got a cell phone last week, first in my 78 years of life, I won't be using it much, I need it to get on Skype or Zoom, always seems like people want to get into my bank account one way or another!!! We will stand strong and live our lives freely and Not be Dictated to. I Love the planet. All of nature, do my best to help Mother Nature, don't like people very much, these days you cannot trust them, they live in such selfish self centered worlds, I think we are regressing as violence seems to be in full force now. I will do what I consider is right and love people I trust. I send love n hugs to you & gerrerd......

Sadly I think we are progressing in the wrong direction since the 'bar' has been lowered on human decency and tact in the media. But the one thing that has been a shining light oddly in all this pandemic hibernation in the areas people actually did it, is nature coming back to areas they have been gone from for in some cases hundreds of years. The beavers back in the UK after being gone. Seeing deer walking downtown strolling with their baby’s. Birds coming back, mammals not seen in decades, basking sharks off the coast of Ireland, and even a jelly fish swimming down the canals in Naples because the water was clear....wow...there is some hope. If we could only care enough to keep the environmental healing going as we do working on our own healing.

Thank you fauxartist, I say we are regressing, some people are acting like spoilt teenagers, all about them, selfish and self centered. I ask my therapist, if we last long enough on this beautiful earth, how many centuries will it take us to grow up, we murdered Christ 2000 years ago, some things are still barbaric, and greed is rampant!I loved the way you talked of the return of animals, I am glad to say there are a few around here where I live, I feed the grey squirrels, I buy 40 lb bags of corn for them. On my deck I feed Raccoons and Possums, there used to be grey and red foxes, but development drove them away, I used to feed them dog food, they were friendly and would come to me, and my did they smell!!! I see an occasional deer, I am on a small lake so I get a good assortment of birds, which I also feed. Seems to me life is such a struggle,, but good people like you and I are pluses on the planet, I have a compost heap, and recycle anything and everything I can. I grow some herbs and veg, and do not use chemicals. Enjoy your day's and live in peace, sending Love N hugs.........

😍 👍 😀

We live in the countryside and also have veggies...but because we have hedgehogs and rabbits around...we don't use pesticides either...but I'll tell ya...we had this row of cabbage one year that were just ready to pick and those little brats ate half of each one in the row...yeah....you'd think they would at least share. And I also am an herbalist, have been since the sixties...I only grow a few medicinal, mostly cooking herbs...which of course can be medicinal also....as far as veggies; it's mostly squash, lettuce, bok choy, kale, potato’s, beans, beets, onions, garlic, and lots of kinds of berries. Over the years they seem to grow the fastest and can tolerate colder climate.

our garden herbs, etc.

Right on Gerrerd, I had a friend who would say to me, "Don't love a thing that cannot love you back". So I love my cats, my Brothers and true friends, I believe in giving out love, we all need it, it is healthy and makes the world a better place. Sending love n hugs.....Sprinkle 1....
