Stress over the world

I felt like I was in control of my anxiety but all this stress and constant talk about the Coronavirus is taking its toll. Between schools shutting down, church shutting down, the world basically being told to stay home. It’s scary and I keep telling myself it’ll be okay but it’s hard not to panic when the media makes it seem like you’re going to die tomorrow. I’m trying to keep my mind off of it and do all that I can and it hasn’t been easy. My outlets for my anxiety are usually to go out and right now that’s not a great option. Any tips or ideas for things to cope with anxiety without having to leave the home?

Turn off tv! Can u cook meals or treats for elderly in your community? U can leave them on their doorsteps...

You can still go out for walks - you don’t have to stay inside... they don’t want people gathering in groups for safety and containment reasons only. Preventative measures...

Have you done your spring cleaning yet? No better distraction then organizing stuff and cleaning...😊 just remember positive thoughts help step on anxious negative brain spin... 🌷🤗

Turn off the media....shut it off, find something that you like to do inside, read, do crafts, bake, do puzzles, draw, anything to keep your mind occupied.

Limiting our viewing or intake of news media coverage and some social media discussion of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) seems a practical way to dial down stress and anxiety.

Maintaining social distancing doesn't mean we can't go outside or leave our homes at all.

We can take a walk, go for a drive, or get on our bikes. We just have to get creative in planning outings that minimize risks, re-thinking our options.

That said, what are some new ways you can think of to get out of the house and still observe safety precautions?

We manifest an extra layer of panic and distress which is quite normal but when you look at the facts we aren’t going to die. The mass majority of those that get this virus will have mild to moderate cold like symptoms, the extra caution is for those that are elderly and with compromised immune systems.

Avoid the news. If you want to be informed, you should be tuning into reputable news coverage like CDC and your trusting local news channel (here if you are in the US), not social media, Internet etc

I can get outside and go for a walk, exercise, do gardening, clean up the exterior of my home, walk my dogs. My interior spring cleaning needs done too. I also have Netflix. 😄

My husband just got back from going to Lowe’s, he said Waffle House was jam packed and about 10 people standing outside waiting to be seated. He drove by the ATM, Dunkin Donuts, local Chinese Restaurant, parking lots full. This isn’t frightening people that they can’t enjoy a meal, get a cup of coffee and my neighbors are cutting their grass and three boys are playing basketball at the end of my circle in front of my house.

Don’t let this stop you from getting out.

Same. I have an elderly mom and she’s basically banned me from visiting - luckily she knows skype and FaceTime. Anytime i cough or anytime I feel something my mind goes down a rabbit hole. I’m going to take a break from news and TV. My fear is not catching this thing, it’s the possibility of bringing it to my mom and the fear of causing her harm. I’m trying not to shut down and wall myself off totally with anxiety, but it’s hard.

I need to go out to stay sane. I plan to continue doing it with a mask and gloves if i must. Otherwise I would go insane! 😪

Hi Serenity.

Me too. I don’t need more insane. I am staying in now because I do have a slight cold.. my immunity is o k . When I get to do more, I am just going to take all the precautions and carry on with what I need to do to stay sane unless they put us on lockdown. I think it very important to wash hands, not touch face, and stay away from groups or getting too close to other people.

We will get through this. We just need to pay attention and follow the advice we are given. ❤️

Calm down, and use your common sense to approach this fear…if you use protocol, follow the guidelines suggested by WHO and CDC. The greatest threat now is fear mongering and misinformation.

Viruses can be active outside the body for hours, even days. Disinfectants, liquids, wipes, gels and creams containing alcohol are all useful at getting rid of them – but they are not quite as good as normal soap.

So why does soap work so well on the Sars-CoV-2, the coronavirus and indeed most viruses?

The short story: because the virus is a self-assembled nanoparticle in which the weakest link is the lipid (fatty) bilayer. Soap dissolves the fat membrane and the virus falls apart like a house of cards and dies – or rather, we should say it becomes inactive as viruses aren’t really alive.

When you cough, or especially when you sneeze, tiny droplets from the airways can fly up to 10 meters. The larger ones are thought to be the main coronavirus carriers and they can go at least two meters.

Hi there, yes it seems crazy right now but most of it is media craze so turn off the news, watch a good show or listen to a good audio to turn off your brain. Take magnesium or a good multi with it in to care for your self. We can still take walks so there's that. call friends and talk about old times or other things, talk about and watch funny things since laughter is healing. This too shall pass. <3
