I haven’t posted here in a long time. I am an older guy.... 68 years old. Just wondering if there are other older people here. I think in most groups there are many younger folks. I read there posts are they are very helpful and would welcome their support but I may have more in common with people more my age.
I suffer from depression for a few years now. This week is pretty good. But, the other few weeks pretty moderate to mild depression. The frustrating thing is the depression comes on without any reason. No environmental causes. Oh well... that’s all for now... thanks for reading this

Yes I am around your age and there are quite a few of us older but goodie folk here. I like the energy and the enthusiasm of the youngsters but like you have much more in common with those in a similar age bracket.
Many of us older folk are more wary of privacy issues though so you might find you get more responses if you lock your post to this community only.
I'm also 68 also and have suffered many years with depression. This past few days I've been really depressed but I had a trigger that caused it. I also suffer from anxiety, PTSD, bipolar, insomnia and borderline personality disorder. I'm on meds for them but they only last for awhile then have to be changed. The doctor is about to run out of anything to give me since I've been on almost all of them. I don't want to sleep or go to bed so most times I stay up all night unless a have an appointment the next morning. I live by myself so it's a lonely life.
I'm in the same age range and have mainly had issues with anxiety but about a month ago I felt like I hit a wall having fatigue, depression some anxiety and sleep issues. It took awhile but I realized it might be my testosterone levels. Went and had it tested and mine was a 2-3 out of 10 so it was definitely low. have started on injections and figure it will take 3 weeks or so to start to feel better. Low testosterone or hormone levels apparently can cause depression, anxiety, sore muscles, fatigue, sleep issues, etc... so I you might get it checked out.
56 over here if that counts. Have had problems with melancholy moods as far back as I can remember but the serious depression came in a brief wave in '82, then again in '87, and finally in '94 it showed up with all its suitcases and came to stay. GAD, dysthymia with spikes of severe depression, but I have learned many coping skills that take the edge off and I even have good stretches.
I know that each spell will pass, they always do, and so knowing that the things they whisper in my ear are lies makes me less afraid of them and takes away most of their power.
