Hi...new here, going through a rough patch

Not sure how I stumbled on this site but I’ve been reading for a little while and feel the warmth and encouragement from others who know what this is like. I’ve suffered from depression and anxiety most of my life (I’m 60) and have been on all kinds of antidepressants including Celexa for the last 20+ years. Have had numerous short-term counseling over the years but nothing now but want to start up again (finding someone is an ordeal). Have had the usual ups and downs over the years, but starting 2 months ago things have gotten much worse after a personal situation in my family. The last week has been really bad...not sleeping, barely eating, unrelenting anxiety, barely able to function at work. I’m seeing a new PCP (old one retired) this week for a possible med change because apparently the Celexa has stopped working after all this time. He’s ordered blood work and I also had an EKG because (I did not know this) Celexa can cause a potentially serious heart rhythm disturbance?? That really helps. Anyway I’m just glad to find a place where others understand the hell that this can be.

Welcome to the group. I'm sorry you feel so bad and have so much stress going on. That's good you are going to see a new PCP though. Hopefully they can find something that will help you. Hope you feel better soon.

Welcome to this amazing group. Oh we know ur demons, we also have them. I also joined to find people who can relate to my depression, to my amazement, I don't regret that decision. I am happy though that you have done many things to just deal with this demon. I am sure people here will be happy to have u on board and help where they can. I know you also have a lot of wisdom to impart to us as well. Welcome again
