Ringing in my ears?

Been on Mirtazapine for 7 weeks and it seems to be helping my anxiety and depression, but also seems like the ringing in my ears have increased. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Ldm247, it is likely coming from the medication since several antidepressants can cause that. Someone over 50 is more likely to experience the ringing in the ears. I'm not a doctor

but it would be best you let your doctor know to see if an adjustment needs to be made.

Hi I’m on Mirtazapine 30 mg since 2014 and i also have ringing in my ears and never thought about it until you mentioned that you have ringing also.

The medicine does work well for me, i always thought it was due to working around nail guns for many years, if i pay attention to the ringing then it gets loud, i guess out of sight out of mind

Hey Matt, would you say you notice other side effects from Mirtazapine? Does it make you sleepy or increased appetite? I am taking it for anxiety and depression. Seems like it is helping anxiety well, depression comes and goes on 30 mg, Dr said to increase to 45mg. I am sort of anxious about increasing it on account of side effects.

Sleepy after I take it at night 30 mg I take and sertraline also increased appetite a little but I am able to control it, anxiety and depression here also the mirtazapine does work for my anxiety and depression but I’m mostly anxious in the morning I hope that helps feel free to ask anything if you have more questions, and remember keep your chin up it will and does get better

Thanks for the info and encouragement, it is very helpful! I might have more questions as I continue treatment. Dr wants me to start tapering off Citalapram, so hopefully that will go ok, been on it for 15 years. Thanks again.

Hey Matt, my doctor put me on Sertraline 50 mg and lowered my Mirtazapine back to 30 mg from 45. I remembered you saying that was what you were on. What is your Sertraline dosage and does it keep your anxiety in check?

Hello I’m on 100 mg sertraline and went up on Mirtazapine 15 mg to 30 mg and yes it has been keeping my anxiety in check took about 3 weeks for the increase to kick in i hope you are starting to feel better, and let me know how the meds are working?

Hello, I think the Sertraline is starting to kick in,. Today is two weeks, one at 25 and one at 50mg and I had very little anxiety.

Excellent that is good news, i remember when mine kicked in it was such a relief to start to feel better and it was right around this time of year when everything was starting to bloom, I’m glad it is starting to work for you it only gets better from here, I’m here if you got any more questions or want to talk.

Hey-hey... May I ask what is going on with the ringing? I developed tinnitus and now trying with Mirtazapine (for the anxiety), but so not sure... Thanks a lot!
