Hi all, I hope everyone’s ok.

I keep getting really sharp/dull/squeezing pains in my throat and chest. Only seem to happen a few seconds at a time but are deep within the chest and throat....had them a few months ago, seem to be coming back.

Does anyone else experience this? Making anxiety worse :( I don’t feel anxious when these symptoms happen either

Hi,

I’ve had similar. Palpitations in the chest- like my heart it pounding for no reason. Then I get anxious about it!

Try using grounding to try to take your mind off it. It may go away on its own when you don’t think about it.

Thanks so much for your reply, Sue! It is unnerving isn’t it. I’ve started to use grounding techniques and they are very helpful.

Yes i can relate to this particular symptom....i went through two years off and on with this 40 years ago.I wish i had realised back then that it was was not life threatening....prolonged tension makes the vagus nerve over stimulate overtighten. The parasympathetic then tries to rescue by overly relaxing hence attacks of dizziness and weakness...followed by inability to expand your chest swallow and can effect any where from the head to the lower extremities especially during times of stress.Have you tried vagus nerve exercises...humming is good...cold showers ...deep breathing. You must not fight anxiety...but try to float through it...it cannot kill you....just make you feel like you are dying....i am still here 40 years on....and have learnt how to let go when things get too much. You could also consider taking a magnesium supplement because that not only calms your thinking but stops muscles from spasms and cramping.

Learn to relax, there are planty of tutorials on youtube...best wishes hope you can get sone reassurance here. Thankyou.

This is so interesting. Thank you so much. I’ve just looked into this, I have studied into this before as I’m training in Nursing and Healthcare myself (ironic I know haha). I’ve had sensitivities in the throat when breathing in recently, almost that feeling when you’ve taken a deep breath in on a cold day, that sensitivity. I wonder if that is connected to this too. Very very helpful, thank you.

Anythought or feeling generated in the head can transfer to the body down any pathway....just as easily as any feeling in the heart or body can transfer to the mind....a two way street ....that often sends wrong signals when we least expect...its how we react that esculates or de-esculates them that will affect our thoughts and feelings.Dr Claire Weekes wrote a book called self help for your nerves...think it might help you....ebay/amazon
