Hey everyone!! I hope all is well for you guys and I hope your holiday was amazing!! I’m a little concerned this morning because I realized that I have been spending a ridiculous amount of time in my bed... probably about 16 hours out of the day to be honest. I was trying to piece together why I don’t even sit in other places around my house but I think it’s because my bedroom is my safe place. I don’t feel totally comfortable with my roommates so I prefer to stay in here. Is this unhealthy?? My back has been bothering me lately and I think that might have something to do with my being in bed way too often...

Addicted to my bed
We all have places that we feel safe. I am glad that you have this place. It is important that we feel safe where we live.
However, It sounds like your living arrangements may be forcing you to make your room your only safe place. Make sure that you are ok with the people you live with. Do you avoid anyone of them purposefully? If so it may be time to confront that.
We all need a place to feel safe, but your bedroom should really only be reserved for sleep and sex. If you are bedridden because of physical pain this is an exception.
You should try an be active, get exercise, go out in nature if you like nature, get adequate sunlight, stick to a productive routine, our body clocks are quite sensitive to our habits.
A common area/living room is for entertainment, eating, etc. Not feeling safe around your roommates means your not comfortable in your own your home you chose to live and share. I’d personally rethink my living arrangements.
I am the same exact way! I’ve been trying to apply for jobs so it can get me out of the house more. I know isolating myself in my bed won’t solve anything really. But I can’t help it because it truly is my safe and cozy place.
