I think counseling should be a required course in school. I mean there are health classes, why not mental health classes too? I also feel that mental health should not cost so much more than "body" health. Everyone wants to open the door for someone with a broken leg, but people with mental health issues are too often shunned. I hope all of us can do at least one thing to change the paradigm. I am tired of feeling ashamed.

Thank you so much for saying that, I could not agree more. People tend to not be very well educated on mental health. I think we should teach people about mental health the same way we teach people language or physical health. I also don't think you can seperate physcial and mental health, they are too interconnected and both influence eachother.
There is a philosophical bias agaisnt this idea in western thinking (thanks, dead greek dudes) despite alot of new neuroscience research showing that physical and mental health are connected. Science has begun to prove that the eastern philosophers where right all along about the mind, body, and spirit being inseperable.
I like what you said. Yes, mental health should be responded to similar to physical health issues. I guess perhaps it costs more because it is a specialty, like an orthopedist. Keep fighting for what you need, and if you are up to it, fight a little for the rest of us. Prayers for peace and strength.
