I feel like it is so hard to find a good fitting Therapist. Finding someone to take your insurance, then finally getting in to see someone just to find out this is not going to work. Then back to the drawing board and waiting to get in to see another Therapist. How many Therapist did you try before you found the right one?

A5,
Asking your Doctor for a referral would be the best way to go if it’s been difficult so far
🐾
I saw a therapist at the center but she wouldn't give feedback and she blew my confidentiality, and was extremely judgemental... I had a breakdown during her session then said F this and started to seek out other therapists... I saw one from a business card someone gave me, but she rejected me instantly upon what I told her... So I went online looking for another lead when a name popped up locally on Google, so I called her, and we hit it off pretty quickly... She isn't totally perfect but she helped me with my communication skills, and allowed me to talk openly about everything without being biased or judgemental... She gives me plenty of feedback... And she takes my insurance... I'm pretty comfortable talking about dark emotions... But she seems to handle it well... But she also has her own annoyances..that bother me... No one's perfect... I also rely on crisis hotlines outside therapy because my family are not understanding or competent to confide in... Use intuition in finding a therapist... It really is a crap shoot...
Try this site and betterhelp online. Yes. Hard to find the right one agree
I went through four therapists, before finding the right one. Actually, i sought out a private therapist and she actually denied me (very politely) because she knew she didn’t have the resources for me, and she gave me a referral to my current therapist, who I have now been seeing for two years. A little advice: do your research on your therapist. Make sure they have experience in your field. Make sure they’re equipped to handle your case.
I am up to four therapists in the past year or so. I always used psychologytoday, they have good filters for insurance and topics they specialize in. It was really important to me to see their picture to gage whether or not I would like or respect him. And I would message two or three and one would get back to me in less than a day, every time.
Except for the last one. I basically had three mistakes in a row, so I asked my psychiatrist for one in her office.. no online presence, would never have picked her. But it's going really well now. Still early.
Not saying either method is better, just different. and all of us have this struggle at some point too. it's a big mess.
I wish you luck!
gosh mine is a long story, I will try and keep it short.
1st was like. The nicest older lady. So sweet. But the EDM therapy for my ptsd just didn’t work. Insurance had 5 free sessions and I just dropped off. She was so sweet I think about her often. This was many years ago....almost 10
2nd..... 1 time. We just didn’t not mesh. 8 years ago-ish
3rd. ..... I got referred to her by my medial specialist for one of my chronic illnesses. She was far from home so she referred me to my
4th and current. I have the BEST relationship with her. I met her when I left my fiancé. Then I got very ill from my condition and she was great at helping me there. Family things. Medical. Personal. Work. Everything. She is the perfect therapist for me. The moral of my long winded story here is. 1 or 10 you need to unfortunately just keep pushing along. Especially right now. With everything going on in the world a good therapist is so helpful. You will find someone. It stinks to have to keep meeting people but it’s like dating right. You don’t owe anyone a second date. But don’t give up. Insurance companies have gotten better with mental health. There are some good resources to get a list of therapists. Have you went direct to the insurance for a list of therapists in your area?
Sorry it's taking time, but it's also important to find that good fit so you can actually make progress and move forward. This site bit.ly/2bYaQqv may help with finding someone. Just please don't give up. Sometimes we have to keep advocating for ourselves to get the right help. You got this! Prayers for guidance, peace and strength.
