hi ashlynn. it’s good you’re looking for help. first you want to look up therapists near you that specialize in/ have experience with areas that are relevant to you, like ptsd. second, you’ll want to pick a bunch and look up reviews and info on them for each online so you can narrow down your options if you have many (I narrow down to 5). then contact what you’ve narrowed down and ask if they’re looking for new patients, have experience with people with ptsd and do video sessions (if you’re in the Us, make sure they take your insurance). once you’ve picked a few that match your criteria, set up an initial appointment with those picks that are taking new patients. When you meet them, determine which one you like and feel comfortable with because you have to be able to trust them enough to open up in order for them to effectively help you. hope that’s helpful.
I would call a local big hospital and ask for a therapist referral that many people see and that they would highly recommend...
Can’t go wrong doing that-
Chris
Or even ask for someone that could give you a referral to a good Therapist...
You’re doing the right thing,

I am glad to hear you are looking for a therapist and need help. I check first to see who is under my insurance, then I look at what areas they work with and if it fits what I am struggling with, then I look at the reviews. I also prefer a Christian counselor because I feel they are more uplifting and encouraging. Here is an article about how to find the right therapist for you. (bit.ly/32T9Laq) I will be praying for you. Hugs and God Bless
i was actually thinking about a christian counselor, but i guess i’m apprehensive because i do want help that isn’t ALL based off of God if that makes sense. is it a mixture of the two? i just don’t know anyone that has ever gone to a christian counselor
I actually worked with a Christian Healthy Life Coach. She would just pray at the beginning and end of our time together. She is not a therapist, but she has taught me on how to be aware of my behavior, asking questions that encourage me to make changes so I don't struggle. We would have discussions to find healing from my past and to move forward. It has truly helped with my anxiety and depression. I still have chemicals that go off at times, especially around my menstrual that causes me anxiety, but I don't spiral because of the awareness of how I am feeling and not allowing myself to let me thoughts go negative, but to tell myself I don't have to spiral and I will pull through this quickly. We talk over the phone which helps me feel more comfortable to share. I will continue to be praying you find the right person to help you. Feel free to pm me if you ever want to chat. Hugs and God Bless
How are things going this week? I have been praying you find the right therapist. Hugs
I went online and used a website (Catholicthereapists.com) to find a Catholic therapist in my area. I went with a very professional lady, and we didn't talk religion much, but it was helpful to talk to someone with at least the same religious views... common ground, you know. The website also had info and reviews about each person. There may be other websites for finding a Christian therapist in your area, and you can find reviews online, describing their individual focus and approach to therapy. Hope you find a good one! All the best!
