Beta blockers for anxiety

Hi all,

I was put on bisoprolol 3.75mg (beta blocker) for what may be anxiety induced tachycardia and high blood pressure. The side effects are awful so I am considering asking to be switched to propranolol. Wondering if folks have had success with beta blockers for anxiety/panic and, if so, which ones and at what dose (whether alone or along with psych meds). Thanks much!

Beta Blockers can and are used to treat high b/p issues as well as Anxiety. Your doctor is the best person to advise you on meds according to your medical history. I found for myself that it's not only about the medication but adjusting the dosage and time of day that it's taken can make it more beneficial without the side effects. xx

Indeed. It's helpful to hear of what worked for others, though, at least to help guide discussions with doctors. Based on my research, propranolol seems to be the go-to beta blocker for anxiety, but would love to hear if folks have used any other beta blockers succesfully (or other types of meds) for these types of anxiety induced cardiac/BP symptoms.
