Beta blockers for anxiety?

I got prescribed by the ER doctor metoprolol for pvcs and I also suffer from anxiety. Anyone else take it? And if so what mg I take 12.5 mg twice a day

Hi Ceelos81, I've been on Metoprolol for the last 5 years and it has been heaven sent

for me. It also is used for anxiety and does help. I am on 25mg once a day. Which is

due now. I take mine at 9pm and by morning it has had it's chance to quiet down

morning anxiety. Good Luck on it. xx

Hi Agora!

I remeber you from 2 years ago when I was going through a dark time in my life.. I’m back now again as my pvcs have gotten worse and my anxiety is through the roof!😞

Also how long did it take for the metoprolol to start work it’s full effect? I’ve only been on it for 2 days and I still feel some bad pvcs hard thuds.. I want to have faith in this med

Ceelos, since it's been 5 years, I don't really remember how long it took to become

effective, but I would say that 2 days is not enough. Do have faith in this medication,

give it a chance. Ceelos, I never feel any heart palps at all now. Never. I wouldn't

trade this medicine for the world. I can only hope it works as well for you.

I take Atenolol 50mg once a day. It slows my heart really well and controls my BP. I was initially on this med for palpitations I was only taking 12mg this worked well until my BP went through the roof and anxiety set in. I still get bouts of palpitations 🤷‍♀️ but my pulse is never high.
