Hi all,

Does anyone have any tips for managing depression? I feel like mine has worsened recently and it's frightening. Thank you <3

What did you like to do before it got worse

I liked to spend time with family and friends (and still do). I used to be a lot more active but I'm lacking motivation for a lot of things these days. It's hard

i understand how hard it can get just to do little things, but i try to go on a walk or take a hike. Even when u feel like you can't, try to go out and walk a little, fresh air always helps me feel even a little bit better.

Hi purplepenguins14. I wrote a long message but it didn't work so I'm writing my favorite coping skills again.

See a doctor and make sure you're healthy.

See a therapist, social worker or counseling professional.

Meditation

Self-care, self-soothing techniques

Shadow work

This too shall pass

You are not alone

Baby steps

Self-help to get a better outcome in the future

Spirituality

Support groups ( good job being here)

One day at a time

Warmlines or chatting with caregivers or texting their lines

I think this was it.

There's not one right way to feel better because we are all different I think.

Best wishes and hope you feel better soon. Thanks for sharing.

Did something happen to make you feel depressed?

Thank you for the tips. I have been struggling with depression for some time (it usually comes alongside anxiety), recently its been coming up a lot. My friend passed away last week and I'm having a hard time processing it. I think that's definitely playing a part.

Sorry for your loss of your Precious Friend.

We need to allow ourselves time to grieve.

It's only been a week. You're possibly still in shock. Was your friend's passing sudden? Unexpected?

Thank you. Yes it was both sudden and unexpected. It is possible that she had Covid; she was running a fever earlier in the day before she passed.

How old was your friend ? Does she have children?

She was 19, a few years younger than I am

What a huge shock. I hope you've got some support where you are . If not, we're here.

Do you think you should talk to your doctor too?

Thank you I appreciate that.

She was away from home when she passed; we haven't seen each other in person in some time.

I am in therapy and have talked with my therapist about it some, which is helpful.

I just read. I'm so awfully sorry to hear about your friend.

This is a nice way to start. The mind/body/spirit practice. 1) thing for your mind. I like to use duolingo or read. 2) body- i’ve been doing 10 minute yoga on youtube, but a quick walk is also nice! 3) spirit- if you’re religous prayer is a great practice, i am not so I meditate. Just make small achievable goals to do every day
