Hello ! I was given the website my somebody from a hotline I reached out to. Struggling with severe anxiety in regards to all the what if’s. My husband is middle aged (55) and lost his job of 23 years.. like myself he doesn’t have an education and worked his way up through the company. My place of employment just laid off 70 people and I have already projected myself to lose my job even though I haven’t . Thinking about medical coverage for my family and not having a home.. I go down the rabbit hole of saying we will never finds jobs because we are stupid and that we will be homeless and have no medical coverage and this is just the beginning of the end .. looking for some help with coping

Welcome to this site there are very kind people here in this site 😊👍🏻 iam sorry that you are going through this sendng much love and kindess to you
I don’t have a college degree either. I was laid off 13 years ago and I knew it was coming. At that time I was debating on going to school because I was worried about what kind of job I could get if I don’t have that. My boss at the time told me not to waste my money since I already had experience. Depending on the industry, experience will always be more valuable than the actual degree. Don’t sell yourself short!!!
Good luck!
Welcome and glad you are here. This is absolutely the place for support and encouragement. Based on your screen name, I would say start by finding a prayer partner to pray with you through this time. That will give you the opportunity to focus and turn all those worries over to God by having someone else to pray with regularly.
And the next question I would ask you is whether experiencing anxiety is new for you? Were you already dealing with anxiety and this potential job loss situation has made it severe or have you not experienced anxiety before? And is the anxiety just the overwhelming thoughts or are you also experiencing physical/body related symptoms as well?
Welcome, so sorry you're dealing with so much anxiety.
I read a good quote the other day that basically said
If it's in your power to change a situation then don't worry about it and if it's not in your power to change a situation then don't worry about it.
Kind of like the Serenity Prayer. And believe me I know it's easier said than done.
I get out and walk and get Sunshine it helps me and I haven't been able to do that in a few days and I really notice a difference.
Take care.
Hi, just thought I would check back to see how you are doing this week?
