Fall weather is triggering anxiety

I was having a hard time last year at this time of year. My anxiety was out of control and making me miserable. The feel and smell of fall in the air this year is triggering my anxiety. Last year's situation is no longer an issue but my anxiety is reacting like I'm back in that situation.

Hi Eagle12, we have a very over sensitized nervous system which responds to sight, sound and smells. Your subconscious mind is reminding you of something that happened during the Fall of last year. The saying "what you think is what you get" is doing this to you right now.

Possibly seeing a therapist a few times to address this issue might help or you could try

convincing your mind that you are not in harm's way right now. (Just because it's Fall)

There are also some great videos on YouTube that address turning your negative thoughts into positive ones that may help. I hope you get the help you need so you can once again

enjoy this beautiful time of the year.

Keep coming on the forum as you will get suggestions in how others handled a similar

situation. My best :) xx

Hello. I'm sorry it's hard, but it isn't surprising that you feel this way (to me anyway). This time of year is hard because the days are getting shorter, the weather is changing, and, depending on where you live, it will start snowing soon. Also, the body remember more than we know. As Agora says, if something happened last fall to trigger your anxiety, the body will remember it.
