Feeling ill every day is this my anxiety. I'm not convinced

So i was diagnosed with anxiety 5 or 6 years ago recently gone through a health scare and family member passing. I have felt ill with different things ever since all of this at end of last year. Was diagnosed with CIN3 of cervix in December 2019 and feared it was the big C while waiting biopsy results so was very anxious over that. Then my auntie passed at a relatively young age and she deteriorated fast. So I felt alot of anxiety at that time as i fear illnesses and death. Also had a tummy bug in December that I still now feel i haven't shifted. I was having panics about this coronavirus before it came tk the UK and felt so ill then but having different symptoms all the time. So first started off with numbness of feelings and felt like I got a little better and we went on lockdown in March. So j got a sore throat and couldn't shift this sore throat and feeling of tightness for a month or even longer that would go for a day or so and come back. Then now in August I saw a bug jumping in my back garden and I am scared to death of bugs that can have diseases and pass them on so I panicked. Fell asleep as j had worked a early morning shift and woke up feeling ill. Ever since that day j have felt belly sick on and off got bloating and feel like my belly is really off. I find my self scared to go to the toilet due to having problems with my bowels and my discharge and periods afyer my cervical cell removal operation in February and also sometimes scared I am losing my appetite because I am scared if i eat to much I will have belly problems. I wake up in the morning and can count 1, 2 and feel a horrible feeling of illness Come over me.

I have had cbt but found they was not helpful in the sensitivity side of things. They don't get to know tou to be able to rate you well enough. I told them what they wanted to hear as they was saying I don't have health anxiety and was rating me on general anxiety. I am not afraid to go out in public. I am scared of my health and the GPS office and medical programs all based on health.

Sorry for the long post.

I just feel ill and really want to believe it's my anxiety as Dr's don't seem to be alarmed much by what j tell them is going on with me. I also feel like during this covid that GPS are not widely available as much as they usually would be and can't falk to them properly about the problem. I fear that I will leave something tk late to be treated or the GPS won't do the usual routine as quickly due to covid going on.

Sorry to hear you’re having a rough time. I think the biggest challenge with health anxiety is that it is a self fulfilling prophecy....the more anxious you feel, the more physical symptoms come out, in turn making you more anxious. It’s a hard cycle to stop.

For me personally, I’ve found it harder to cope with anxiousness during these times because there’s so much time spent at home. Less distractions than usual.

Yes I do find I feel more ill when i have a day off work. Its like your mind doesn't want you to relax isn't it. Always worrying when your sat trying to relax. I find I feel worse at certain times of the day

Totally understand. I drive myself crazy, trying to convince myself it’s anxiety, but then wondering “what if” it’s not? If I find my symptoms go away when I’m not hyper focused on it, I feel ok that it’s nothing.

Same,i think that most of it is anxiety. We as humans always think it's the worst thing when it could be minor. I am scared of going to the Dr's for answers also tho because I am afraid that something is wrong but want to know at the same time what is wrong. It's a vicious circle 😶

You’ve been through a lot. It’s normal you have concerns after what you’ve been through and seen. Do you feel differently each day? Meaning the things that hurt move around?

Hi yes I do have different symptoms like i can have symptoms then they go away and days or weeks later they can come back. I feel sick nearly every day lately but it's been on and off since beginning of August. Dr thinks my symptoms are tk do with stomach acid but now today I have had a not so nice symptom that won't be to do with stomach acid but more to the line of infection concerning the operation in had on my cervix

Did you have any blood tests?

Iammesues profile image
Iammesues in reply to Iammesues

Do you take something for the stomach acid?

My Dr has prescribed me with omeprazole for a month to see how I go on. Only just got my prescription due to it not being ready at my local chemist.

I had a blood test in May I think it was checking iron. Thyroid function full blood count and something else can't remember what the other one was. Can they change that fast?

Not usually but need white blood count to see if infection anywhere. Have that tested just to bring comfort. It will test fine so you will have peace. The cervix is easy to diagnose. You go to doc?

Yes I was diagnosed with stage cin3 of cervix in December last year. Had the operation to remove the pre cancerous cells on 10th Feb but since then just not been feeling right having yucky discharge at times bleeding between periods. So was told I had thrush treated that and still not made a difference. Had my contraceptive implant removed 2 week ago because they were thinking the unisual bleeding was due to the implant. But yet still getting yellow discharge and then brown discharge between periods. But tested for infections and all negative so that makes me worry even more knowing they can't give me answers. Then I feel sick every day now and worry its an infection they can't find. Haven't been able to go to my follow up smear because of the bleeding I had between my periods but Dr done a pelvic examination when testing for infections and said my cervix looked fine.. 🤔 Just don't know what all these horrible feelings and symptoms could be and hard to distinguish between the anxiety symptoms and the actual symptoms that are the concern. Sorry for the groseness.

I’ve had the same leep procedure. Why doc say you bleed?

L1994 profile image
L1994 in reply to Iammesues

Yes that procedure. Loop excission I think they called it but its exactly the same as leep just a different name for it. I had a large loop excission under anaesthetic at day surgery. But I bled for about 6 week afterwards. Had a normal period in May and ever since then my periods have been longer apart and had about 5 days spotting between periods. Sometimes a brown discharge especially when I strain on the toilet so I got the implant removed as they said that the contraceptive implant could be causing the abnormal bleeding. But I had got a bit of yellowish discharge do was tested for stds bv and thrush. All negative except thrush. So was treated for thrush. But today I had gone to the toilet stained and had alot of yellowish/orangish discharge and my Dr's did not answer the phone today for me to speak to my Dr.

Call again tomorrow so you’re not worried this weekend

Ob gosh. I called my gp. And litteraly argued down the phone. They were asking me what do I want them to do about it? They won't treat any infection without proof of infection so keep just saying to do swabs that i have done twice already. They are waiting for me to have my follow ip smear that they keep cancelling due to bleeding between periods. Honestly I am at my whitz end with them. I got so distressed over the phone call I feel like they are not helping me what so ever x

Call a different doc. Why are you calling a gp instead of gynecologist?

L1994 profile image
L1994 in reply to Iammesues

You have to be referred by your gp. I'm with colposcopy but they tell me to go to my gp. That's how it works in the UK

Hi L1994, just read your post and it could of been me writing it, I have anxiety and every day is struggle, I feel ill all the time, if it isn’t one thing it another, I’ve had lots and lots of test which have all come back ok, I suffer with IBS and divaticuliter disease,I’m convinced there is something more sinister going on but every time I have a test and it comes back ok I move on to the next pain or illness I think I have, I think I have drove the doctors mad, I can’t offer you any solutions but just you to know that you are not alone, and this site is helpful and people on here are so welcoming and comforting. I wish you well and hope you find some peace.

Thank you. Yes I have thought I have had many different diseases and illnesses first my throat then my cervix and reproductive system and then my bowels and now back to my cervix. It's horrible. I found I don't OK for about 3 years I felt quite normal no real anxieties over my health. Always felt depressed on my days off work but nothimg like to what it's been the past few month. Its so draining. I know something is wrong with me because I have had symptoms that are visible but I think it's going to be the worst thing possible that's wrong with me. I'm now scared that I have an infection that the Dr's are not picking up and it's spread and that's what is making me feel so ill. 😔

Are most of your aches and pains on your days off?

L1994 profile image
L1994 in reply to Iammesues

Yes I do feel ill mostly on my days off work. I have felt ill the odd time in work. Think my mind can wonder when I'm off work as I have more time to think.

Iammesues in reply to L1994

This is a real thing. Called Leisure Illness. When you are running as super busy during work days (running on adrenaline) you body just goes. But when you have a day or week off, your body releases the stress and the endorphins go down, your immune system reacts and you feel ill. So many people have this same reaction to days off. You can google it.

L1994 in reply to Iammesues

OMG thank you I have never heard of this and always thought it was just me. I always said to my therapist that I feel worse on my days off and I am to busy through the week to feel anything. I am litteraly out of my house 5 days a week from 8 in morning until 8 at night doing school run and working then uniform as and homework and Saturdays out doing driving lessons and other things then when I get home for the rest of that Saturday I find it hard to wind down and rest and even cleaning can be a challenge but then depression kicks in because of my ocd I find i can't relax untill I know things are cleaned. Will have a look at that now. Thank you.

L1994 in reply to Iammesues

I haven't. Had alot going on. I am now in isolation as I have become a close contact of a positive covid case. It's set my anxiety off as 3 people in my work have tested positive and I have been working with these people. My mind is on overdrive right now thinking when I am going to start getting a temperature and other symptoms. Also isolating on my own with no other person sucks. Should get my results tomorrow feom my test. Fingers crossed it is negative
