What are safe medications for depression/anxiety?

What medications provide support help with depression and/or anxiety? Thank you! I have suffered with both depression and anxiety for over 20 years.

I am not a doctor nor do I claim to have the answers but i do know what has not worked for me and what has.

I lost count of the drugs i was put on over the years and all of them made things worse for me, some right away others after my body stopped responding to the treatment dose. I have found some great relief this last couple years from essential oils. Not the store brands but the supplemental grade kind. Many SSRIs are used for anxiety and depression. Paroxetine, Zoloft, Prozac, Venlafaxine, Cymbalta, to name a few. Your doctor can surely prescribe one of them.
