Increased dose of sertraline

I’ve been taking 50mg of sertraline just over 3 weeks and my doctor asked how is it going and I haven’t really found it’s worked yet just made all my anxiety so much worse, he said I am on a low dose and now to increase it so I have gone up to 100mgs daily. I feel my anxiety seems even more worse now! Is this just the drug readjusting or is this not agreeing with me at all?

I want to try and stick with this drug and hope it works rather than switch as this will take even longer.

Thank you anyone who can share their experiences on sertraline and increasing the dose how it effected you.

Some meds actually will make your anxiety worse. Let him know if you didn't already. He or she may have to try something different!

Sorry you are feeling this. I was on sertraline for two years before switching (it worked well but killed my sex drive which is the reason why I switched)

As stated before, medicines react differently for everyone and this seems like its not helping but hindering you.

Also- we’re you able to asked yourself where the root of the fear or anxiety is coming from presently? I’m only asking because it could be helpful to see if it’s related to the medicine, or if its your thoughts questioning yourself to make yourself believe it’s the medicine.

(I hope that makes sense)

I am on 125mg and take them in the morning. It takes a couple of hours to work but feel much better then. The downside is when you first wake up you feel terrible and can't stay in bed to relax.

Hi, I was on Zoloft (sertraline) for several years at 50 mg and it worked well. Then I believe it was making me depressed. So I tried a higher dose of 100 mg and it immediately affected me very badly. I would taper off this drug if I were you and try something else. I have found Escitalopram oxalate to be helpful but it took about 5 weeks to get used to it. It was very fatiguing at first but now it is very helpful. Whenever you increase or decrease a dosage with a medication make sure it is done gradually. I find that doctors don’t really know the possible side effects very well. You have to look out for yourself.
