Advice on job interview? Super anxious

So, i had an interview with this company that i was so excited for. The interview went really well and she seemed like she really liked me! After the phone interview I sent a thank you- follow up letter and she basically responded and said “it was nice talking to you...i will be in touch for the next part of the interviewing process” okay so two weeks go by and i still dont hear anything I decided to follow up again. Her response was “im so sorry my supervisor has yet to get back to me” okay so another two weeks go by i follow up AGAIN she responds “so sorry i have another note out to the supervisor, talk to you soon!” By now its been a month...another two weeks go by!! So finally I decided to look on indeed only to find that the position i applied for??? Was posted AGAIN? Why would she keep in close contact with me all this time and keep telling me she promises to get back to me? I am thinking about writing her a formal professional letter and explain how this process was completely unfair and unprofessional and/or write to the corporate office. What do you guys think?

Hi it's unlikely that the one who interviewed you has jurisdiction over company policy, so I wouldn't do this. What I would do is write them a very nice letter/email saying you are still very much interested in the job, but have noticed it's been re-advertised.

I would also say that you have a job offer elsewhere (a little white lie) and you have to make a decision in say 5 days. That should galvanise them to action if they want you. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

If they don't contact you then I would just chalk it down to experience and forget them and move on. Good luck.

It sounds like you have been treated unfairly in that you were given false hope which probably meant you weren’t looking for/applying for other jobs.

However, what she said to you each time was probably true. Sounds like she didn’t have a lot of say in the decision making so when you contacted her each time, all she could really say was she had to speak to someone else as she probably didn’t know herself.

I think she should have followed up with you to tell you that you didn’t have the job as she promised she would but I don’t think she really did anything wrong aside from that. Most companies don’t contact unsuccessful candidates - she didn’t really stay in contact with you, she just replied to your emails.

I don’t in anyway think you were wrong to email and chase this up but equally, I don’t think the lady who interviewed you did anything wrong either. I think it’s just a ‘lesson learned’ kind of thing and moving on to finding the next job. Sorry this didn’t work out for you.

Good luck!
