Starting Sertraline after being off for several months and wondering if I should go directly back to my original dose

Hi! I'm new here and am hoping for an answer on Sertraline dosage. I took Sertraline for years and ceased taking it earlier this year. Wow! Big mistake🤣 in a pandemic. I refilled my Rx and plan to begin taking it again tomorrow.

Question: I was on 50mg daily. Should I start with that immediately or consider 25 mg for a week or so in order to properly re- introduce it back in to my system?

Hi 👋, If this dose worked for you before, I would go straight to it. Doctors like to start low to find out the minimum dose that works for their patients then add to it.

A very small number of people find previous meds don't work when returning to them. I don't know why... important to keep diary of how you go, just in case. Record your feelings, sleep and appetite, side effects as the key indicators

What does your doctor say? Sometimes it's better to start off at a low dose and work your way back up to the original dose.
