Dreadful feelings are typically rooted in trauma. Trauma is very complex. I think we often times don't consider how many events in our life were traumatic without us even realizing it. We also carry our trauma for years. I found that out yesterday during a therapy session. She asked about past trauma and I was like woah, where do I start?

I would recommend a therapy called emdr if you have access to it. Please research it.
