New to antidepressants

I am currently taking an antidepressant but have only been on it for 6 days. My anxiety is worse and I have headaches. My spouse is angry with me. She just wants me to read a book on how to feel good.

It doesn't work that way! I have the same issues with my wife and she has a psychology degree!

Hey. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. It's great that you're trying an antidepressant, but it will take several weeks even a month or so before you notice a therapeutic effect. It's common to feel a bit "off" in the beginning. Health is not one dimensional, many variables go into it, but medicine is a good start

Try giving the meds some time! It takes up to 6-8 weeks for the body to get used to it and for it to work. (well for me it did)

It sounds like your wife doesn't have a good understanding of mental illness, which is understandable for people who've never experienced it. To be honest, I probably would have suggested something similar if I hadn't experienced depression and anxiety. Support is so important when you are not feeling well, so I'd suggest trying to strengthen your relationship. Let her know you appreciate her help and that you really need her. You could look up information on anxiety together and come up with a plan.

I feel how you feel and imagine what you’re suffering. I’ve been on antidepressants for a long time. It takes weeks for those meds to kick in and work. We tend to have side effects till they’ll work. Please give a med time. You can ask either a pharmacist or your doc who prescribed your med.
