Can a simple thought or memory send you into a spiral?

Crazy how you can feel pretty good throughout the day, and one thought or memory triggers something. The switch gets flipped within seconds and then it’s tears and hurt and anger and back into your darkness...anyone relate?

It is. It’s like “wow, I’m happy...this is awesome,” and then your brain says, “nice try” 😒

For sure! It’s really frustrating. And the opposite direction doesn’t work where a good thoughts switches you to being okay again, which isn’t helpful.

It's safe to say that the majority of us have our share of wreckage to shift through. The important thing to remember is that you've found yourself amongst good company on here; you don't need to go through this alone.

I can relate too. I think it is because we have bad working thinking patterns which make us feel worse and worse as if we would be trapped by unhappiness.

Yes it happens to me with some pretty morbid thoughts. Then it brings everything to the surface. It will pass You've got to take the up side and enjoy it

Ohhh. I can relate. Last night we went out to celebrate my son’s 46th birthday. I was joyful liking each moment with the kids and good food. At 4 am it was like an earthquake in it’s maximum force. I took my pill but still not feeling well. Let’s hang in there. No space to giving up.
