Really bi-polar?

ok I got a diagnosis of bi polar from my shrink. He new me about 10 years on and off. I asked 4 a diagnosis. I didnt fill out a questionnaire. Did he just know me lol or do u have to have a questionnaire? I mean bi polar is the new a.d.d. it seem like every one is bi polar now adays and I live with one and they r not like that. I have had low days where I don't get out of bed cause of crippling depression. And one friend said im one of the most manic people he knows. I didn't know being hyper was mania. I thought I was just "happy" with my friends n good sense of humor. Am I bi polar 4 real? Just because there's up n downs we all have that.
