I have been very sedentary for at least a year due to pain all over. If I sit I don’t hurt I’m trying real hard to get my strength back. I do some walking and biking every day but I just don’t feel like I’m making any progress. The neurologist initially thought I might have Parkinson’s but she has changed her mind now. My MRI of my head and neck show changesDue to age. I have significant health anxiety but desperately want to move forward. I feel like I’m trapped in my own body.

How long does it take to regain strength after being sedentary for a while.
Hi Pat, are any more tests going to be done? What is the outcome
of your hip and leg pain? I had the same thing years ago MRI did
show changes in the discs of my neck due to a car accident. Years
later after being diagnosed with anxiety disorder, I was diagnosed
with Fibromyalgia. All over body pain, headaches, off balanced.
Just wondering if that's been mentioned. xx
The dr is suggesting fibromyalgia. Can that cause sciatica? I’m in a lot of pain. Can’t sleep. Foggy brain. Poor balance. Etc I don’t tolerate antidepressants and most pain meds. I do meditation daily and that helps. Do you still have pain?
What time of day do you take your Thyroid medication?
What do you take and what dose?
Do you take it on its own, with water only, first thing in the morning and an hour before any food and drink?
Do you take any supplements.
Any other medications?
Do you have your last blood test results ? Could you put them in here?
It seems to me that you could be under-replaced. Getting your Thyroid medication sorted out would be the most beneficial thing to do.
Are you under the care of an Endocrinologist?
Have you ever looked on the Thyroid UK website? Search " symptoms of an Undersctive Thyroid" on there. You have so many symptoms.
Every cell in the body needs an adequate supply of the hormone Thyroxine in order to function properly. No organ can work properly without enough of it.
This is why we have so many health problems and pains when under - replaced.
Taking Levothyroxine incorrectly can affect its absorption.

Did you know that strenuous exercise can delete T3?
Gentle exercise (walking, cycling, swimming) ok though.
Hi
If you are walking and biking every day then you are making excellent progress!
Usually, after being sedentary for a while, it's generally recommended to start with 3 minutes gentle exercise (walking, cycling or swimming) at least 3 days a week . Building up weekly ( ie 5 mins then 10 mins etc) in stages to 30 minutes at least 3 days per week, preferably every day .
So you seem to have a good exercise regime already in place.
Other tips for fitness and general well being are : drinking extra water, eating healthy varied diet; pelvic floor exercises.
Also helps to reflect on where we were a while back and consider how far we've come. The hurdles and drawbacks we've overcome.
A good tip too is to think of things we are thankful for and say thank you for them each day. Sort of like making a mental positive list, especially when negative thoughts creep in, such as feeling trapped.
Thanks. I don’t have any motivation but make myself do the exercise. I just can’t see much progress yet.
I think, if you look back through your old posts you will see the progress you've made. Lots !
Have you ever had Thyroid function blood tests?
Has the high 'protein' result now resolved?
ps
I just edited my first reply.
You have Hashimoto's Autoimmune Thyroiditis.
When did you last have your Thyroid Function bloods checked? Do you have the results ?
Have you had any nutrients tested in particular ;
Vitamin B12,
Folate (B9)
Vitamin D
Ferritin?
What dose of Levothyroxine are you on.
Do you take any other medications at the same time or other times of day?
You need iron for energy
vitamin B12 helps you utilise your iron I take a high dose of the yeast based B12 not the arsnic based one
Highly recommend it
I see that there are quite a few medical problems you have. Assuming you are cleared to exercise, for starters I would ask my doctor specifically what types of exercise are suited for you. Biking and walking are low impact and certainly great for general health.
You state you don’t feel good, your underlying health conditions puts limitations on the type of output you can put into exercise, I hesitate with your medical history to recommend anything you should be doing or supplementing with in your diet so I’m not going to suggest that.
As a 52 year old, I’ve been exercising now for 7 years now and will add this, exercise should be done with a specific goal in mind and build slowly. Think of exercise as a way to increase stamina (you need to increase lung capacity, strengthen ligaments, joints and muscle slowly and build each week so you can go faster, longer distance, etc). Increases in physical strength comes with adding added resistance. Doing both aerobic and strength type exercises (examples like yoga, calisthenics , body weight and moving into adding light weights) will help you get into overall physical shape. Swimming is really good as well. Lastly, you do need to be able to sleep well and of course diet is important for optimal recovery. We build upon exercise through rest and recovery after the exercise is completed for day.
Progress depends on the goal and what type of exercise program you put into place and overall cleared to do with the guidance of your doctor. Should you need blood work, adding vitamins or supplementation or doing more checkups and wellness exams is at the discretion and guidance of your doctors. Overall goal is avoiding additional pain and exercise injuries. Wishing you the best.
There is a new seizure medication out there for Fibromyalgia. Since that is what I have, It has brought my pain down from pain range 8/10 to 4/10. I also have spinal issues and the neurosurgeon said it was the Fibromyalgia causing the extent of the pain. Thought this might be worth mentioning.
Isometric exercises -ex. tighten thigh muscle while lying down, hold for 10 and release.
Therabands - easily adjustable tension.
Can you get to a physical therapist? They would know the safest methods.
