a tv playing static on channel 7

i am still my body

asks my name

other questions of less importance

haven’t smiled once and the static grows

vines hug your hungry places with all love

i’ve lifted from my body

scurrying little feet

a small, snapped writhing corpse

can’t hear myself think

swimming in the drawl of voice

where tobacco is tucked tight

wondering if that blood must feel so maligned

i become the static on channel 7

So good to see your poetry back on here; your voice has been sorely missed.

How have you been? Keeping safe and healthy, I hope?

I love how the second line can be read independently as its own sentence, or as a fragmented thought that breaks in the middle and spills over into the next line.
