I’ve had depression and anxiety, with varying degrees of seriousness, since I was an early teen. Long story short is that I have been on Venlafaxine for several years now, at low to high doses (currently 150mg prolonged release daily) and it has honestly saved me. I exercise now and this also helps (cycling and weights), and I eat healthy food, where before I didn’t. have lots of food intolerances, milk for one, that I excluded from my diet and this has also done wonders for my mood and body. I’m healthier, happier and look better than I have in a long time.
I want to share my story in the hope that if it even helps one person, I will feel like I’ve done some good.
I was a person who overate, overslept, was deeply depressed/anxious, overweight and completely negative about everything and everyone.
I’m by no means a Stepford Wife/Husband now, but I’ve learned to help myself and not just rely on medication. Talking therapy can also beneficial if you’re at a stage to do it, not before.
My personal story is one of loss (both parents deceased), troubled relationships with partners/siblings, overdose/suicide, overspending, compulsive/destructive behaviour and lots, lots more.
At this point in my life, I own a house, 2 dogs, have a wonderful partner and I am a manager for a US Management Company.
My point is that it’s never too late to turn your life around and if I can do it... YOU CAN TOO..!
