How to get off kolanapin?

Hello. I’m 31 I recently switched to Zoloft because my lexapro stopped working for me after 10 years of being on it. As I was switching medications my dr gave me kolanapin 0.5 mg to help with the transition. So I have been taking half a pill in the morning so .25 mg and half at night .25 mg for about a month.

Then the zoloft after 5 weeks started to work properly so I started slowly coming off the kolanapin. I was still taking .25 mg in the mornings and cut the evening pill to 1/4 so around .15mg. For about 2 weeks.

Then I cut the morning to 1/4 pill and 1/4 at night for a week and then the next week I started feeling nauseous, headaches everyday, when I wake up my body has like shakes and tremors. So I went back to 1/2 pill .25 mg in the morning and kept the 1/4 at night for a week now but I still feel like this and it’s been a week.

Am I cutting down the kolanapin off to fast ? Please advise !?

Ask your Dr. We are not doctors here. What I will say I was on klonopin for awhile bc after a really bad panic attack I was experiencing anxiety. So my advice is to give it time. We always wanteverything yesterday but thats not how it works. Talk to your dr aboutthe tapering and how much and timing and all of that and find either a support group or maybe family or family friend who you can talk to aboutyour symptoms day by day. It gets better day by day. Good luck to u. You can do it.

I would try just reducing the dose on one day of the week only. Then do that ever week going forward. It takes more time but it gives your body more time to adjust. Go back to the original .25 am and pm until your symptoms are reduced.

I, too, am trying to taper off Klonopin. There are some uncomfortable side effects. I appreciate the reply about hanging in there with those uncomfortable feelings. I do know the tapering must be done slowly. Also, talk with your doctor about this. Be gentle with yourself. Your body needs to adjust. I, too, am going through the withdrawal and I am starting from 2mg per day. I wish you the best.
