Tell me what wrong with people, social Distancing!

I wanted to write this yesterday, but I was so angry, and depressed. Sunday my husband and I went for a long drive with the windows open to feel the wind. We pasted parks, and forest preserves. They had taken down the tapes , that said stay away from here. They grilling with big parties, eating together. Kids that you knew were only friends were right next to each other. Took down tapes were the play sets were. We are doing what we are supposed to be doing, while these people don’t care, if this virus doesn’t calm down, and the vaccine is found. I know if a love one of there dies from this virus, then they would. But right now they don’t care about other people, or the medical people, or essential workers die either. I been saying hope, but now I can’t say hope. Hope won’t help this, only all people doing the right thing , can slow down this virus. This lockdown is getting harder everyday, but I know we have to do this. All I want is to hold, and kiss my grandchildren again, and for them to hav a normal life again, and another human beings not to die❤️

I guess you are in USA? In the UK we are still in lockdown and not allowed to drive far and have to stay local.

in reply to hypercat54

We didn’t drive far at all, and we are in lockdown We didn’t get out of the car, and yes I live in the US.

It really doesn't matter where you are...the US has the highest rate, then it's Spain, Italy, and then the UK, which has one of the highest mortality rates in the world. Sweden which never locked down is rising in cases, and other countries that are lifting lockdowns will never completely eradicate infection because of it. Just because your numbers are low, they are not zero....it all started with one infected person, I guess some have short memories. The 'herd' mentality doesn't work with Covid-19...they have had people in NY coming back in after being discharged even sicker.

I had a friend die of it in the beginning, his wife almost died, his son , wife ,baby were in the hospital too. If these people have someone die then maybe they’ll listen, but I really don’t want it to happen to anyone

Ah you said you went for a long drive? In the UK we are not allowed to do this because if we had an accident we might end up in hospital and catch the virus. And surely it would be safe to get out of the car as long as you observe social distancing?

in reply to hypercat54

I said we were not on a long drive, and you are not supposed to walk anyplace except your neighborhood!

Ok , it doesn’t really matter that I made a mistake writing long. You can take a drive here, you just cannot do not social distancing, if you want to go into an essential store, or have a party, etc.Boy you remind me of my kids always correcting us, and most of the time they are wrong. I bet you of a younger generation. Who likes to be always right!

I know what you mean. I work with people with disabilities. We are to wash our hands when we go in the homes and right before we leave as well as the social distancing. My co-workers come in and fix themselves something to eat. They don't bother washing their hands. I want this to be over with.

There should be a government helpline which we can call to report people breaking the rules.

in reply to Mary-intussuception

I agree!❤️

Your right...Covidiots..people so stupid to think they just can't get sick..and when they take this virus home to grandma or their mothers....fathers....etc....then it will hit home, literally.

In 1918 during the so called Spanish Flu which has since been identified as H1N1,...which is half as lethal as this Covid-19, it took 3 waves of re-infection for people to finally stop going out and not wearing masks. Yes exactly the same pandemic scenario...as history repeats itself, so does stupidity. By the time all was said and done...it took over a year....and over 600,000 were dead in the US, and between 40-60 million dead worldwide....some say as high as 100 million.

Protect yourself and your family from Covidiots....

hypercat54 profile image
hypercat54 in reply to fauxartist

Ah actually I disagree faux. The Spanish flu was many times more deadly than this virus with a death rate of about half. Corona death rate is 1 pc going up around 10 for the elderly with co-morbidities. x

in reply to hypercat54

No one should argue about this virus, it still is deadly to all ages!1918 was a very long time ago, and they didn’t have much help, as we do now. Did they have respirators, no!

hypercat54 profile image
hypercat54 in reply to

Even without modern medicine you can't compare the 1918 pandemic to this one. To do so is scaremongering.

No worries, no one is arguing....Bev and I go way back....healthy discussions are not arguments.

We can agree to disagree....as you may know from past posts....I do have a background in epidemiology, and microbiology from my first major in Biological Sciences. And I do know anyone can quote statistics from various sources and come up with something in the middle that suits every situation. Some believe this whole thing is a hoax and some deep state plot.

History does repeat itself....and thats not scare mongering. We can choose to just ignore it then, and let this history speak for itself in years to come. Common sense and cooler heads will prevail.

I just watched a video of a gal in Texas who said you can't get the virus if you only drink beer out of aluminum cans...and that you would only get it if you drank that Corona Beer.

Thank you ,take care yourself too.❤️

I guess it is human nature. For people who aren’t scared/cautious. And a lot of Americans actually still think it isn’t dangerous or that it’s a hoax. I’m absolutely sure it’s dangerous. Being outside probably does help some. Virus will blow away. But still I think risk not worth it. I don’t know what is going to happen. It’s becoming just trying to keep my brain healthy enough to enjoy each day. And hoping for the best. I’ve been doing a little better. I hope it stays.

in reply to saracar

These people were right next each other breathing on others. Shame on them.

What do you mean by the virus will blow away?

fauxartist profile image
fauxartist in reply to Dolphin14

Good reason to wear a mask in case it blows in our direction....and why hasn't anyone said anything about vaping...the perfect vehicle for viral transmission....the amount of vaporized lung exhale is staggering....far more than cigarette exhale. I saw a guy at the local market standing right outside the store on his break ....vaping....and people just walking through it....most with no masks on.

Dolphin14 profile image
Dolphin14 in reply to fauxartist

Yes, that's what was going across my mind. Of course it will travel. That's why we distance and use masks.

Don't get me started on vaping... Iol could I go on and on about that.

Stay safe my friend

You too kiddo....it's going to be okay....but it's a very hard road ahead and like with anything in life...we take the bumps and turns and keep moving forward.

My heart breaks about your grand children. I have one. We have had sleep overs most every weekend since she was a toddler. She is now 9. I feel so empty without her.

I'm angered also by people not following guidelines. They are put into place for a reason. My state will start instituting fines for no masks starting tomorrow. They are mandatory in any building and outside if you can't social distance. I wish they would give me the right to ticket some of the people I see daily breaking the protocol. I would spend my day outside writing tickets.

When it hits close to home these people will change their thinking process. But how much damage will be done before that?

Great post

in reply to Dolphin14

Sorry for you too, I raised my grandchildren, till they went to school full time., while my daughter had to work all day long.I miss them, more then anything. I too would like to tickets these people too❤️

Your right about that, will never get that time back. We have to try to be strong, but it gets harder everyday. Much ❤️

If you are inside it can be less likely to blow away. They suggest opening windows. I read too much.

I don’t think it’s right what people are doing either. But, depending on what state you live in, people may not listen. I know one thing. I am not doing it.

It infuriates me that people don’t stick to the rules, we al have family and friends we miss but we don’t just do what we want. I walked out of a shop yesterday as people were so close to me and yet if someone was in an aisle that I wanted to get something from I waited for them to move on before walking down it.

Oh I know how you feel. We people who do the right thing for not only our family, but others get punished not seeing our loved ones because of these poor excuses of human being. The only time I see my grandchildren is threw the glass window of their house, we put our hands up to the window like we are touching each other’s hands, and throw hugs , and kisses. My husband, and I had two women standing next to his car door, and won’t move, so I just told them move away from our car! They just don’t care one bit. You take care❤️

I agree with you! I live in California and some people just don’t care or don’t think it’s a big deal. And it doesn’t help that we have our president either

Some people are so selfish. Theres always going to be people who just wont follow rules no matter what. Common sense doesnt exist anymore either- I have heard people wearing underwear as masks🤦‍♀️🙄🤣

I have seen the same thing! My neighbors say they go between two houses. Next thing you know, there is a big bbq party in the front yard with other neighbors. Kids were playing on the street with each other. No social distancing! This is not helping us!
