Situational depression and anxiety

I'm new to this site and have been experiencing situational depression and social anxiety. I am currently taking Lexapro at 20mg, which was gradually increased from 10mg to 15mg and then to 20mg which I am currently taking. I am wondering if anyone here has any tips on how long it took for their medication to start working - I have been taking Lexapro since April 6, 2020 and I am not feeling the effects of the medication fully yet. I would appreciate any tips or advice on how long it took other people on this site. I would also appreciate any advice on recovery from depression and anxiety.

Way to soon BlackKot9... it takes every bit of 4-6 weeks to reach full efficacy

but know that each time the dose is upped you can add a few days more.

I'm on 20mg Lexapro and have found this med a great drug for me.

I wish you the same. :) xx

The difference between situational and chronic depression is that the feelings of sadness, loss, grief, etc. are the same, but situational depression will eventually pass with the right therapy and meds if prescribed. Others like myself will always have depression, it's just in my genetic makeup. So the best I can do is understand everything I can about depression, and talk about it with people here who also understand depression.

I took a very low dose of Lexapro for a few months for situational depression, and it helped as I am still here to talk about it. My body is very sensitive to all chemicals so I was on a non-therapeutic level (the doctor did not know and I ended up throwing them away when they tried to convince me--despite the doctor saying to the contrary--that I needed "biblio" therapy which required me to cart around reams of paper printed out by the "therapist"). I don't know what your situation is, however, when it changes and you reach at least 6 weeks, I hope you feel some relief. Have you discussed this with your therapist and/or prescriber. I hope you have some peace today.
