This one?

You've found a good one here.

I've just read your profile and wondered if you've ever been tested for Thyroid Antibodies?

Doesn't seem like you have?

As soon as you can, ask for the following blood tests:

TPO ( Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies )

TgAb (Thyroglobulin Antibodies )

Free T3

Free T4

TSH

Vitamin D

B12

Folate

and Ferritin

Many people go undiagnosed & suffer many years from Autoimmune Thyroiditis.

Hashimotos's Autoimmune Thyroiditis is the most common cause of Hypothyroidism (Underactive Thyroid ).

You have listed some of the symptoms of Hypothyroidism.

Look on the 'Thyroid UK ' website. Search 'symptoms of Underactive Thyroid ' on there & see how many you have.

You've possibly had the regular Thyroid Function blood tests done. However, with Hashimoto's, they fluctuate and can fall within the normal ranges so not reliable on their own.

I lost two good jobs due to being left undiagnosed and untreated Hypothyroid for many years.

Sadly, antidepressants are sometimes prescribed without Thyroid being fully investigated.

I too was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.

What Thyroid tests were done?

Do you know if any Antibodies were tested? More than likely not. You most likely just had T4 and TSH tested.

Request copies of your hospital records including all your blood tests results. You can apply by letter or email. There is no charge now (in UK) since new rules 25 May 2018.

I've just shown you a way forward.

We have to research and find out as much as we can .

IF you do have Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism then you need to take a replacement hormone everyday. It's called Levothyroxine. But you need to be diagnosed first.

You could start by asking for the TPO & TgAb tests , also the FT3. Make sure the blood test is done early morning though and fast, drink water only.

You could say something like ' as I have many symptoms of Hypothyroidism I would like Thyroid Antibodies blood tests to eliminate or confirm Thyroiditis.'

You could also ask your doctor to send you for an Ultrasound scan of your Thyroid.

I suppose you will have to wait for the present situation to settle down, but no harm in asking GP over the phone. If you're ill, you're ill.

Meanwhile, get a letter in to the Hospital, requesting copies of your records.

Hashimotos's is common. Late diagnosis and mis-diagnosis are also common, sadly.

Not what you're looking for?
