How do I lose weight on Amitryptiline
Well mirtazepine causes weight gain so I suggest that you talk to your doctor about gradually coming off it bit by bit. Also it is not recommended for anxiety and/or anxiety disorders, they tend to use sertraline or escitalopram etc. These belong to a group of drugs called SSRI's selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors then start on a low dose etc. Hope this helps.
Hi thankyou. Yes I know about weight and Mirtazapine . Actually it stopped my continual horrendous panic attacks I got whilst in hospital. But now I've stopped it but the weight is still there and Amitryptikine not helping with weight. All I wanted to find out if anyone has successfully lost weight and how. Thankyou for replying
Yes I do undestand because one of my friends took Mirtazepine and her dr gave her blood tesfs for diabetes because of her weight. But when she stopped taking it she wasnt taking nothing after that and she said she wasnt happy with her weight . I cant remember how long it took, but it was quite a long time. A year down the line she takes Sertraline 150mg and she said that this agreeds with her much better. I dont know much about Amitryptiline because I'm not a doctor sorry.
It will be difficult but not impossible. Are you limited from doing any form of exercise? Can you try to eat less? Cutting portions, eliminating a snack or two?
I purposefully avoided mirtzipine given to me due to weight gain, it increases appetite. I’m hopeful that in time your appetite will subside, and eating less and doing a little exercise (even walking if you can) will start to work.
Many thanks. Yes I'll try to eat less but exercise and going out is hard for me. Guess I'll have to try something to lose this as I'm now classed as obese and it's all the drugs done it. Thankyou
Thats right, it does.
Thanks Paula37. It's so hard . I was tested for diabetis as my eyes get blurry and the optician wrote to my GP to get tested. All OK thank goodness but eyes still get blurry and optician said theres no change. My guess is it's the drug still. I'll do my best to cut out carbs. It's hard when you live on your own and feel like just eating !! Thanjs. Much appreciated
You're welcome.
