Suffering from anxiety for 10 years. On escitalopram all that time. Have flair ups here and there but nothing as bad as the past 2 months have been. Wake up everymoring with terrible anxiety that lasts all day. It started getting better slowly after two months until I recently found out my wife of 4 years cheated on me because she felt unwanted by my as I been suffering through my anxiety all these years. We are trying to work it out. I forgave her because i was at fault also not giving her the attention she needed. But since I found out my anxiety is extreme. Xanax does nothing to calm me down. I feel like my escitalopram has stopped working after all these years or taking it. Should I switch medications ? I cannot live everyday feeling so terrible

paruxhr, when we are impacted by a traumatic emotional issue, it's pretty hard
for any medication to keep up with the thought swirling around in your mind right
now. Lexapro and Xanax are good medications however, it needs a little more
help right now with therapy that will help work on these issues as well as you finding
other methods in calming down those thoughts. Taking the blame off your shoulders
is the first step. We all have choices, some come with regrets which your wife
may be feeling right now. ( You did not ask for anxiety)
As for your medications, your doctor may want to increase or switch your meds for
a short time while you figure all this out. Under any anxious thought due to an
unforeseen event, can come anger which needs to be addressed.
I wish you well in going forward paruxhr. xx
Dependency on xanax highly addictive.
You has to keep increasing the dosage which you will be immune to it.
I suggest Cranial electro therapy. A small device pass through current using battery. Slowly you will get better and anxiety will disappear.
However please do not completely stop taking xanax. Slowly reduce it.
Thank you.
Have you been able to see a counselor? I think medication can take the edge off but when times get rough I think we need more than the medication to get us through. Best of luck to you. I hope you start to feel better soon.
I've found that medication does not address my anxiety and depression much anymore. As someone else said, it takes the edge off, but treatment often involves talk therapy. It's hard work but worth it.
Hey there I wouldn't suggest you stop the lexapro. I would ask my Dr. to add something to it. I have a medical marijuana card and some products have helped me tremendously. I take 20 mg of lexapro a day also. 1 mg clonazepam and a marijuana capsule in the morning and a couple of puffs of flower ' marijuana ' in the evening. I'm doing soooooo much better since getting the card. Blessings to you 😊
I have tons of experience, I've been on xanax for over a decade. In a nutshell I seen a crooked dr. And he left the st. Of Md. Leaving me to detox rapidly. It took a year just to get off. Horror side effects. But then again I was on them every day for over a decade. 4 you, I think this extrlapam whatever you should stop taking that, never even heard of it. No wonder ur anxiety if fucked up. Xanax is way better but u need a higher mg. But xanax only works 4 hours give or take. (Mostly take sounds like u need a nice 1 or 2mg of klonopin 2 to 3 times daily. Plus I read there earlier to come off of. If you could have a 10 mg xanax to boot on top so ur anxiety instantly slows down, that would be great. I dont know if ur dr. Will prescribe both of the best benzos. If he cant do xanax with klonopin what about valium 10mg. There great! Either way tell ur dr. U need to switch off that exowhatever the fuck garbage and try k pin or valium with ur xannies. And xanax doesn't last long so u want something that last longer or higher the dose. What dose of zs r u on? Be careful I would do this temporarily cause they are a bitch to get off of!
Did u get my message.
