“Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn’t you – all of the expectations, all of the beliefs – and becoming who you are.” ~ Rachel Naomi Remen
Question: What are some of the inner beliefs and expectations you would like to let go of? How would you feel differently about yourself after letting them go?

I didn't want to know the old me... she was a sad lost little girl. So I had to re-invent myself and become who I wanted to be. I will always have depression, and scars from abuse, but at least they don't define me anymore.
That was very kind of you to say that Elienne...I am glad you got something from what I said...it's true for many of us isn't it...we just work so hard to find ourselves in this mess we call life...that some things we just need to deal with, work through, and then do our best to put them on the shelf with the other chapters and lessons learned in life we don't want to repeat.
What steps can you take toward self-discovery? Simple and easy, uncomplicated baby steps are perfectly fine.
I'm sure not "everything" you've done can be described as "negative". (Be careful of sweeping, over generalizations ... "always", "forever", "everything", etc.)
Can you list a few positive actions you've taken, choices you've made, or creative works you've done? A few positives worthy of noting.
Perhaps before "moving on", you might want to establish peace and closure with the past?
The present is a place of personal power, so don't be too eager to press ahead.
What in the here and now is important for you to pay attention to?
Elienne, a very good question that can be the key to healing.
It took me many years of therapy, medication and even in-patient
hospitalization. With determination and belief that I would achieve
my goal, I did reach it by letting go of beliefs that were holding me down
as well as expectations that were unrealistic. I became the person I
was meant to be and it's an amazingly powerful feeling. I am grateful xx
I'm trying to forget some things that happened in the past. Praying God will clear my mind and crush the devil. Once I have put the past behind me, I plan on having a better relationship with God.
There's no time like the present for drawing closer to God, is there?
Isn't it written, if we put God first, all else will fall into place?
Don't be held captive to the past, giving the past power to rule over your present life.
