So when I told my psychiatrist that I had thoughts of suicide in the past, she suggested lamictal. It is a mood stabilizer. Anyone have experience with this drug. I already take 150 mgs of sertraline which is not doing all that much. I have ocd, ptsd, anxiety and depression. Thank you,

I feel the same way sometimes. My friends don’t understand depression. I just know it’s not ok to hurt yourself. Its a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
I was just recently on lamictal but asked my doctor to take me off of it as I felt so sick while on it. I'm trying lexapro now and she wants me to try the lamictal again if the lexapro doesn't work but I'm honestly not comfortable taking it again. However side effects are different for everyone. Just bc my experience with it wasn't good doesn't mean yours won't be. Try it and communicate with your doctor if you have side effects from it.
Thank you. I am honestly still trying to figure out what it is supposed to do, Will it stop my suicidal thoughts?
I have been taking Lamictal for about a year. It has helped me tremendously. I have BPD and my mood swings were intense and exhausting. Lamictal is the only mood stabilizer that works for me. I've been on a lot of them. I don't have many side effects. However, Lamictal can cause severe skin problems, so be aware of that.
I also have treatment-resistant depression. Sertraline did nothing for me either.
Hope this helps.
I took lamictal for 3 months and the nausea never passed (I was doing pregnancy tests regularly it was that bad) I stupidly came off it without weaning (I thought the time I had been on the low dose wouldn't effect me much) it was the worst withdrawal I've had in my life ! So just be aware of that if you are going to try it 😊
I hate when people ask about a medication that I know I have taken before, just don't remember what it did. Probably not much good or bad or I would remember Right?
I took Lamictal for about the right time, I have Anxiety and Depression , it made me feel so angry all the time that I had to stop using, my psychiatrist advised me to when I told her about being angry .
I have been taking Lamictal for bipolar disorder II for 13 years. I started with Geodon, but felt pretty awful all the time, so the doctor added Lamictal. (I think Geodon is similar to setraline.) I still had side effects that I had had with Geodon alone, but they were much lessened. My mood lifted, most importantly. I think Lamictal has helped me a lot, though the few times I've tried to wean off of Geodon I've become hypomanic. It's hard to tell exactly what was going on in that case -- could just be the rebound effect from getting off Geodon. But for the most part I'm happy on Lamictal and Geodon.
I’ve been taking Lamictal for several years. I have always suffered from treatment resistant depression and taken many different meds BUT Lamictal helped more than any other med. It was stunning how much it helped. I have no noticeable side effects. The skin ailment, Stevens-Johnson syndrome (?) is a very small risk.
It didn't do anything for me, and it can make you gain weight if you are prone to it. I have chronic anxiety and depression, and I've failed a lot of medications in the last 10 years, so I'm likely medication-resistant.
