Lonely.....

I don’t know how to not feel lonely. My apartment is starting to feel like a prison. People tell me “you should just go out and have fun by yourself, who needs company when you have yourself.” I understand that but after awhile you start to feel pathetic sitting alone in a restaurant, movie theater, bar, etc. It doesn’t make me love myself or enjoy myself. It just increases my feelings of how alone I am.

I’ve been where you are. I remember when I lived alone and I had little contact with other people. I’m sorry you feel this way. It’s hard. In my case I joined some Meetup groups and slowly built a social life but since I’m naturally an introvert, I still spent a lot of time alone. I found that online support groups like this helped a whole lot. I hope you feel better soon.
