Sometimes I get to thinking whether the unexamined life really is worth living. I mean, were all these philosophers and existentialists keeping us depressed and anxious obsessers in in mind when they invited us to analyze ourselves and think about death and meaningless all the time? I'm a "pure obsessional" and now my mind's favorite trick is to keep me obsessing what a failure I am for not embracing the "freedom" to choose or to radically engage in life because death could occur at any moment. Maybe ignorance IS bliss. Isn't that why we drink? To cope with our lack of ignorance?

Well, they can't all be right. And sometimes a person may be tempted to drink alcohol to take off the edge....or more for several hours of escape. Not certain of your age, but alcohol, meds and smoking whatever was actually part of the movies and TV programs. and several generations still believed they were good stress releases. Many have died or become terribly ill from hoping those stress crutches would help their lives.
But when my husband says how something so unemaginable happens in a TV program, I look up and say "No way Jose".....that's just because the producers and writers can make anything look possible.....when it is not. That impossible gun fire which only causes a "flesh wound" on TV, could kill a person in real life.
Put those books away for a time. Let the dust settle on you...give your mind a rest. We live in such an varied and remarkable earth that spins us in just the right way to permit life to exist.
Why? Who knows why the sun and our blue planet dance so well together? Everyone I think wonders about that and wishes they knew the answer to your question. But our days would be just gone THINKING if we didn't just take a plunge now and then to lesson our own anxiety. Great things can happen after that plunge is taken.
So take a small chance and see how that goes? Did your anxiety prevent you from doing anything without a safety net one foot under you? Because you HAD to be "right". HOPE NOT.
If so, then just try again. We have freedom of speech, thought and free movement......not seen in many parts of the world.
I love the T-shirts the Marines have, and the variations commercial companies make.
Perhaps your Tshirt might read: "anxiety is fear leaving."
Oh, and shut your Facebook for a few weeks; that's fairytown land...no one ever publishes what went wrong or if their lives are not wonderful.
Take care and hope your next day is a "doing day," not a what if one......like I had a couple of days ago, xx
