I spend so much time in my head I hope one day it becomes a nice place to be in. I won't stop working on it,I always wanted to know what it feels like to have inner peace
Within : I spend so much time in my... - Anxiety and Depre...
Within
That's the spirit!!
Go for it with all you got!!!
🌻🌻🌻 I will, thank you for the encouragement
It’s achievable, even for a short time. Perhaps run a bubble bath... light some candles... and allow yourself to indulge in the moment. Now that’s a lovely dose of inner peace.
Inner peace is the calm of survival... the strength to tarry on... and the "its ok" all by my damn self!
We can accomplish our own version of inner peace. You are amazing
I know inner peace is something that I think I had once but I forget what it's like but one day I hope we can all find that inner peace and it last for more than an hour or day
I know exactly what you meant by forgetting what it's like. Sometimes I don't remember who i was before all of this
What does it feel like to have inner peace, you ask? The poet Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey in the reign of King Henry VIII gave his version in a sonnet circa 1525:
"The happy life be these, I find:
The riches left, not got with pain;
The fruitful ground; the quiet mind.
"The equal friend; no grudge; no strife;
No charge of rule nor governance;
Without disease, the healthy life;
The household of continuance.
"The mean diet, no dainty fare;
Wisdom joined with simplicity;
The night discharged of all care,
Where wine the wit may not oppress.
"Such sleeps as may beguile the night;
Content thyself with thine estate."
Not that Howard ever achieved inner peace, he was beheaded by King Henry VIII for treason.
Maybe inner peace is unachievable, I should probably focus on a more feasible task. Jeff have you read any of Sir Thomas Wyatt's work and John Milton you will not be disappointed
No, I have never read any work by Wyatt or Milton, maybe a bit too intellectual for me I'm afraid. But I'll have a look.
The version of the Earl of Surrey's poem is roughly taken from the 38-part TV series "The Tudors" which I'm sure would have appeared on U.S. tv.
Surrey is talking to the Earl of Suffolk who is greatly impressed by the poem and says so.
"And which of these things do you not have?" asks Surrey.
"None of them" replies Suffolk.
"Then you are like me" answers Surrey. "And the Romans before us, and the Vikings, and the barbarians before them. For I have never found a man who does."
So it appears that life is a constant battle but we can expect to have time to warm our hands round the camp fire.
No disrespect intended, Jeff1943, and I hate to be that guy, but...it would appear it's actually more Surrey's version of the Roman poet, Martial. The lines you cited are not the full poem, which is sixteen lines (and not, strictly speaking, a sonnet -- though, one could make the case that a variation of a short lyric poem could be called a sonnet...sorry for the pedantry). Here are links to two versions of the complete poem; the first from a 19th century edition of Surrey's work, and the second a more modernized version:

You are absolutely right in everything you say, mrmonk. It is a fault of mine to rewrite history sometimes. I came across this poem in the TV series 'The Tudors' which depicts the Earl of Surrey writing his version of Martial's sonnet and the TV version was very cut down. Well spotted.
Thanks for not taking offense...I actually hadn't read the poem before, so thank you for bringing it to my attention in the first place. And I'll have to check out that TV series, as well!
Mrmonk, that TV series " The Tudors" consisted of 38 one-hour episodes broadcast over 4 years. In my opinion it is the finest piece of dramatic art in the history of ever. And I have it on DVD and have watched it 7 times. It is so well written, the dialogue amazing. I had to stop watching it because after 150 hours I was beginning to speak in Old English ie "I see that Anne is with child" when we would say pregnant😊
If you find it, please share. And I sincerely hope you soon find that sense of inner peace😇
🌻❤❤ thank you
If only we could find the way to get inner peace it would be a lovely thing to be able to share with everyone if I ever find out how I will tell you all.
I would love to know
hello, I feel this deeply. I hope you get your inner peace!
I hope you do too sweetie

Im not trying to push anything on anyone. But my first step was to step away from organized religion, so I didnt have that shame or sense of failure for just being a human. Im not atheist,, and I believe in love,, charity, empathy,, compassion and sharing to name just a few
