I have experienced PHP twice. The first time was wonferful, we were one big happy family. The people there with me, including the staff, was very loving & kind. I have never experienced such compassion before outside of my family. The second time was no where in comparison. The people, even the staff was not as compassionate, but I stayed because I needed help. I showed up to not feel alone in this other wise I would've stayed home. Now, this site & my new family on here is what keeps mw going. I constantly struggle, but I log on & be with my family, mentally. 😁😁😁😢😢😢

I have been in a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). You go to the hospital and get into groups to get educations on coping skills for a wide variety of mental health issues. Then get into smaller personal groups to discuss issues peer to peer with group therapist to assist and moderate. The particular program I went to was very very well done and your first time is like naturally scary for some folks. Know that this type of program is geared to handle persons with severe mental illness that don't require in stay hospitalization. They do the standard stuff of labs, one on one with a psychiatrist, one on one with a nurse, one on one with specialized interviews for your particular mental health conditions, etc. Where you can't drive or are taking medications that interfere with driving they pick you up and drive you home each day.

My experience was excellent. Though I admit it was hard leaving it at the end because you can get attached and bonded with others there. Still it was better for me than being stuck in a hospital building and sleeping in a strange bed. It operated some what like going to school but with testing for blood, urine, prescriptions reviews, etc the same as a doctors visit. You are checked in for security reason like what they do at the airport , metal detectors for anyone trying to bring weapons etc. You feel safe because everyone there come with their own stories and their specific mental health issues.

All in all I rated it at 96% for the program I went to because it helped train me to deal with my mental health issue. Nothing is 100% , but it helped better just just short one hour visits and medications only. Though the issues can still creep on you the option to return as needed and per your health care coverage. If you want to know more feel free to private message me and I'll gladly share what I went through.
