Any suggestions regarding weight gain from meds?

I started zyprexa less than 2 weeks ago. It's causing insatiable hunger and weight gain. I have a history of eating disorders and cannot handle this weight gain. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

Talk to your doctor about a different drug. Adding to your problems is not okay. There are definitely other options.

Thank you. I feel the same way. I hope she listens because I'm the 2 weeks I've been seeing her, she doesn't hear me.

I hope so too. When you are mentally ill it is hard to advocate fir yourself. When you get a doctor who won’t listen it is awful.

I'm awful at advocating for myself. I start but then cave and give in.

Me too although when it comes to health I have suffered enough from doctor mis judgement to suck it up. I have been sent to the ER and suffered bad side effects because they over prescribed. Now I’m not afraid to fire a doctor that won’t listen or work with me.

I was thinking about you. Do you have a doctor treating the eating disorder? If so, maybe they can contact your psychiatrist and say this Med poses a danger to your health

I don't see a doc for the eating disorder but my counselor knows

I am asking my md too about weight gain today. It is quite a dilemma. Prozac and Seroquel have effectively regulated my brain chemistry. Now I have RA and need to lose lbs for pain relief. Will update you later today.

My depression got worse due to many events. Our goal is to stay with the medicines that have kept me comfortable rather than adjust them for weight loss. She is scheduling a ketamine infusion to provide some immediate relief.
